Chris's Bio:

In 1985, amidst a renaissance of sorts for heavy rock, Megadeth released their debut LP, ‘Killing is My Business…and Business is Good’. The album was an acidic, violent mixture of sounds that combined the raw power of leader Dave Mustaine’s former band Metallica with the fusion chops of guitarist Chris Poland. Megadeth displayed a knack for tricky stop/start riffs and breakneck speed. But to listen to the album today, only the song “Skull Beneath the Skin” seems cut from the same cloth as later Megadeth albums. Still, the group began to amass a devoted fan base. The following year saw the band make great strides in song and sound, as it unleashed what still stands as one of the benchmark albums of the genre, ‘Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?’ With giant Capitol Records picking up distribution of the record, ‘Peace Sells…’ sold. Megadeth embarked on a world tour. Its videos for “Wake Up Dead” and “Peace Sells” were receiving heavy airplay. The band was being written up in countless magazines. Chris Poland was ranking higher every day in guitar polls. But at the end of 1987’s ‘Wake Up Dead’ tour, Chris Poland was out of a job, the victim of creative differences and substance abuse.

Chris took a gig playing bass for a legendary punk band for some quick cash, then set himself to the task of rekindling a fire under his career. He released ‘Return to Metalopolis’ in 1990, a heavy instrumental affair that turned heads and made waves among guitar aficionados. Unfortunately, ‘Return to Metalopolis’ was also the first victim in a series of record label-related fiascos that would hamper Poland’s progress. Damn the Machine and Mumbo’s Brain fell in succession as A&M dropped the former, and band dissention unraveled the latter. So Chris went back to the beginning, so to speak, and reunited with former band mate Robertino Pagliari. The two had been in a band long before Chris’ tenure with Megadeth. They formed a fusion trio and began slogging their way through the L.A. music scene again. In 2003, after six years together, the band has released its debut recording. These days Chris’ playing is informed by the heaviness of his days with Megadeth, his synergy with bassist Pagliari and the numerous personal meanings behind his band’s name.
